WEATHER: As predicted, it snowed all night, a cold fine snow. It’s still snowing today, a warmer flaky snow.
It’s a Powder Day. The crew would like to be skiing, but after four days off from tapping due to the cold, they snowshoed up the hill this morning to tap. Their thighs ought to feel pretty heavy by day’s end.
Hans, however, is off to ski Spruce Peak.
The Evolution of Hans
At birth, Hans surfaced through the drifted snow from the roots of a Maple in a secluded sector of the Nebraska Knoll Sugarbush. He came into the world with skis on his feet and the innate ability to use them. He was initially cautious when gliding, but that state of affairs was short-lived.He settled right in trying some of the easier runs like the Woodshed Chute……and being a natural athlete, quickly advanced to the more formidable Picnic Table Drop. His fondness for trees became an obsession. He innovated a few novel lines down their trunks.Like his father Kraus, Hans was soon performing acrobatics; he amazed all with his ability to shimmy up icicles. He grew fond of the attention and began dreaming of being in the next Level 1 ski movie. His fate was sealed as he took off in search of rails to grind. He discovered that wasn’t as easy as it looked. Some of his slides had scary consequences.Hans became bored with these stunts and sought out the challenge of big mountain skiing. He commissioned a helicopter to take him to the top of some local peaks……and ended his death-defying descents by cranking down the lower snowfields. This terrain was filled with cliffs.Dropping them was irresistible. He was still restless and began making first descents……into clandestine gorges. But, lo, this daredevil lifestyle had its dark side.
Hans grew weary of injuries and the pressure to excel. He quietly decided to scale back his ambitions and concentrate on the joy of low-angle gliding which he knew would sustain him into old age.

Is Hans single?? He looks like a catch for a lady like me… especially now that he’s happy with low angle gliding… we might be a match made in heaven…. but not at all sure about the beard though, that might have to go… 😉
Hans is awesome!
